What are Erasmus+ KA1 Training Courses?
KA1 courses are professional development programs funded under the Erasmus+ “Learning Mobility of Individuals” action, designed for educators who want to build new skills, connect with international colleagues, and grow professionally through short courses abroad.
Who can apply for Erasmus+ KA1 Training Courses in Lisbon?
The course is open to a wide range of education professionals, including teachers and educators, trainers, educational coordinators, school career counselors, special education teachers, curriculum developers, headmasters, educational counselors, psychologists, social workers, youth counselors, international exchange program coordinators, and school management and administrative staff.
It is suitable for professionals working in various educational settings, such as primary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools, training centers, adult education schools, higher education institutions, kindergartens, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Interested professionals should first check with their organization whether it already has access to Erasmus+ KA1 funding. If not, the Lisbon City Foundation can help guide them through the process of securing funding.
Our organization doesn't have an Erasmus+ KA1 grant yet, can you help?
Yes. If you’re waiting for your application results or would like guidance on applying for a KA1 grant, you can contact the Lisbon City Foundation directly at training@fundacaocidadelisboa.pt.
Why choose Lisbon for an Erasmus+ KA1 course?
Lisbon offers a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to focus, connect, and truly absorb what you’re learning. It’s a city built on centuries of encounters, a genuine melting pot of cultures, languages, and traditions, so the city itself becomes part of the course. Walking through its historic neighborhoods, you’re constantly learning: every square, viewpoint, and street tells a story about migration, exchange, and coexistence.
Our courses are designed to take full advantage of this. Rather than staying within four walls, Lisbon City Foundation programs include outdoor activities that let you experience the city as you learn from it. It’s a powerful way to turn intercultural learning from an abstract concept into a lived experience, connecting theory with the real voices and journeys that shape the city today.
Between the warmth of the setting, the richness of its cultural heritage, and hands-on encounters, Lisbon isn’t just the backdrop for the course, it’s an active part of the learning itself.
What makes the Lisbon City Foundation different from other Erasmus+ KA1 course providers?
The Foundation has over 37 years of experience in education, diversity management, and human rights, with trainers who bring hands-on, real-world project experience to every course. Our trainers, such as Rute Machado, a psychologist and certified trainer with experience since 2005 in school-based community intervention and civic education, and Almudena Ferro, a social work specialist with over eleven years coordinating social change projects across Portugal and Spain, don’t just teach theory. They design and deliver training grounded in work they’ve actually done in the field, with schools, volunteer networks, and youth and migrant communities.
How much is the fee for the Erasmus+ KA1 training courses at the Lisbon City Foundation?

What level of English do I need to participate in your Erasmus+ KA1 courses?

Our trainers are experienced in working with international, multilingual groups and adapt their pace accordingly.
How far is the Lisbon City Foundation from the Lisbon Airport and how do I get there?

Since the venue is located in Campo Grande, a well-connected area served by two metro lines, we recommend staying somewhere along the Yellow or Green metro line for the easiest daily commute. These are the closest hotels to the venue:
How many participants are usually in each course?
Our courses are kept small and interactive, typically welcoming between 8 and 16 participants, which allows for meaningful group work, discussion, and personalized attention from trainers.
Do I need to attend every day to receive the certificate?
Yes, full attendance is required to receive the Certificate of Attendance and Europass Mobility Document, as these certify the number of training hours completed in line with Erasmus+ KA1 requirements.
